March 29,  2024 -  Planning Commission Votes Yes to Jennings Lane Rezoning

At this evening's Shelbyville City Planning Commission meeting, commission members were faced with a choice between an out-of-town developer who threatened to cancel his development on Jennings Lane if the city doesn't rezone it to R-2 so he can make more money and a petition signed by close to 100 neighbors of the property asking the city to leave the property as R-1. The Planning Commission sided with the developer and voted 4-3 to send the rezoning request to the city council with a favorable recommendation. A nearly identical rezoning request on this property was turned down in December by a vote of 6-3 by the Planning Commission. Two members who voted in December were not present at this evening's meeting.

The final decision on the rezoning will be made by the Shelbyville City Council when they vote on the issue at their upcoming meeting on April 11.
